- Why
a new Bob Dylan site?
Before starting out with Bob Chronicles on 21.03.2001 the Wilson J. Friedberg
Society carefully pondered about the usefulness of a new Bob Dylan website.
Another site among hundreds of sites on the same subject…? Would it survive?
Would it actually get an "audience" of its own? Well, after many years of surfing
the net exploring the majority of existing Dylan sites, the Society came to
the conclusion that most of the sites are useless, some are good, a few are
excellent, but all of them lack of completeness, offering only extremely partial
information about Bob Dylan and his activities. Starting from this weak point,
completeness, the Wilson J. Friedberg Society decided that a new Bob Dylan site
that would deal with the topic as a whole, gathering all possible information
and organizing it as one body would be most welcomed… and so, there it is: Bob
Chronicles!
- What do I find in Bob Chronicles?
Bob Chronicles gives to his visitors a survey, as complete as possible, of all
Bob Dylan Never Ending Tour concerts (that is to say from 1988 to… tomorrow!).
For every single show, the visitor is able to find all information available
about date, place, venue, capacity, crowd size, supporting act, Bob's band,
guests, soundcheck, cue sheet, setlist, song lyrics, reviews and pictures. A
section dedicated to the Interviews will be coming soon and lots of songs will
be soon available for downloading in MP3 format. Moreover, a Trading Page offers
a list of good quality CD-R with most of the shows referred to in the site.
- How is the site organized?
Bob Chronicles is structured like an encyclopaedia. You can access data in two
ways:
OVERVIEW
By clicking with your mouse on OVERVIEW, a year by year list of all Legs of
every tour will display on your monitor. Choose the Leg you are interested in
and click on it. You will get a list of all dates of that Leg. By clicking on
the date you will get to the concert file you wish to consult.
DATABASE/SEARCH
Searching the Database gives you a more direct access to data. The visitor is
able to search the Database by Date, by Year, by City/Nation/US State, by Song
and by Guest. Just fill and click!
Furthermore, the DATABSE/REPORTS section gives you a complete list of all songs
performed, of every different City and Nation/US State visited by the Never
Ending Tour and of every guest who has appeared on stage with Bob Dylan At the
time being, no chance is given for a direct access to data contained in each
concert file. This means, for instance, that to get to a picture or to a review
of a concert, you will have to open the concert file first.
- How may I contribute?
Besides signing up the Guestbook, contributions are welcome and very easy.
If you have any kind of information about a Bob Dylan concert (reviews, pictures,
or whatever) all you have to do is to write an e-mail to web@bobchronicles.com
sending us what you wish to share with the community. Your stuff will be published
and your contribution will be credited. One more thing: subscribing to the
Mailing List is very useful. You will get notice and details every time Bob
Chronicles is updated and, if you are lucky, you might even win a prize!
All the best
